In Dangriga, you can eat natural seafood and  fruits all you want at low and affordable prices.

It's a non-polluted town, and that's why it is named "Dangriga", which means "Sweet Water" in the Garifuna language.  The smell of the air and the taste of the water is so sweet and refreshing that you feel almost like in paradise.  When you feel hot, you can go to the beach anytime and swim in the warm, crystal-clean Caribbean Sea.  If you have any luck, you can even catch fishes, sea crabs and shells.  What a perfect dinner for free!!

Dangriga is definitely the place to be on November 19th of each year, the day that the entire country - but especially Dangriga - celebrates the arrival of the Garifuna people to Belize in 1823. The town reenacts the arrival by canoe, and there are parties, dancing, music, drumming, in celebration of the successful resistance of the Garifuna people to enslavement, colonization and deportation. A visit to Dangriga provides the opportunity to observe performances by traditional groups of people such as the Turtle Shell Band; as well as modern Punta rock and reggae. Dangriga is famous for its cassava-based breads and cashew wine, as well as fish and plantain cooked in coconut sauce.
